My love of Scranton history was sparked during my high school years at West Scranton. One of my teachers, Nick Petula, covered the History of Scranton one semester in 1980, and I still have those old mimeographed sheets to this day.
I later discovered Genealogy, and that only added fuel to the fire of learning more about the area’s history while piecing together the families and stories of my ancestors, and how they lived during the city’s early days.
My father served the city as a Scranton Police Officer for over 20 years. His days on the force were somewhat mundane during a relatively quiet time in the city’s history, but that set the stage for my respect for Law Enforcement.
This site is the result of the combination of some of my passions – Scranton History, Genealogy, and Law Enforcement.
My other passion is sports! You can follow me there at Wandering Spectator.
